Weddings ( & wedding photography) at McCormick Home Ranch has a vintage shabby sheik feel which I love. If you plan on going there use the directions from their website, GPSs will get you lost in a corn field.
I had the special treat to use one of my friend and very talented colleagues “Joey” as my second photographer on this wedding.
The grounds around this wedding venue are very lush. (I’m pretty sure its still an operational farm.) it gave us a wealth of foliage for some really great images.
With all the greenery, we did a little Infrared. Since the grounds were so green and there were so many trees, I actually preferred not to use it as much. The visible light was already too good for photography.
We did several photos with the bride and groom as well as the entire bridal party in front of the barn. A standard for any ranch wedding.
Be sure not to miss the other groomsmen photo-bombing in the background of this image.
The little garden off to the side of the house they use for weddings is perfect for photography. There is plenty of trees to block direct sunlight and it is beautifully maintained.
One of the things i always love to do during the wedding reception is to steal the bride and groom away for a few moments to capture a few pretty shots of just them with their location. This only takes about 5 min max and doesn’t interrupt anything. I’ve found that couples love the opportunity for a breather away from all the pomp and circumstance.
