For those interested in wedding photography yet still new to the field, we have a 3 day photography assistant program. For those accepted, we would offer step by step wedding photography training in the field. Day one we start by review your portfolio and give you a list of skills to work on. Day two we go off to shoot a real wedding together start to finish. Day three, We’ll go over the work and give pointers on how to make it better next time. We only accept about 2 to 4 candidates per year. This is unpaid and clients are fully aware you are in training. Candidates may be asked to simply assist on one wedding prior to actually shooting.
This classification is only held for very experienced and exceptionally talented wedding photographers. The ideal candidate has their own wedding photography business with a few open dates and can respect our client relationships. Some days we hire associates, some days we shoot as an associate for our associates. I like to think about it as an opportunity to collaborate with other artists for artistic and professional growth. If we can inspire each other, we should connect. To get the most talented photographers, we wait to book our associates until 30 days prior to an event.
